Charles Schwab's checking account and Debit card are very useful. When withdrawing money anywhere in the world, ATM fees are refunded to you. Charles Schwab also allows you to apply for a Visa Debit Card and checks. The Visa Debit Card can be used worldwide to withdraw local currency cash, with a daily limit equivalent to US1,000 in local currency (based on the international VISA exchange rate for that day, with no handling fee). In Taiwan, for example, when withdrawing New Taiwan dollars from an ATM, NTD100 will be temporarily deducted first, and Charles Schwab will refund it later. ATM cash withdrawal fees around the world will be returned to you.

When using a Charles Schwab Debit card or any credit card anywhere in the world, it is recommended to settle credit-card purchases in the local currency (do not settle in U.S. dollars). Charles Schwab bank will immediately exchange currency at market rates. It is very good, and there are no foreign transaction fees.
