Easy investing, happy living! A relaxed talk on investing from CLEC Investment and Financial Education Academy. Post date: May 03, 2021.

Francis:

Teacher James,

  • About a month ago, a friend who also invests introduced you to me and said there was a preacher he thought was pretty good. We had both already spent a great deal of time studying and putting money into short-term speculation, but in the end it was truly all for nothing. Quality of life and relationships are affected. We probably were not unlucky, because we both took risk control seriously and at most had small losses. We were busy for nothing, but the greatest loss was youth and time. Many people end up in an even more miserable place.

  • When I first started listening to your YouTube videos, if I were to believe what you said was right, that would also mean I had to negate the effort I had put in over the past few years and my drilling into technical analysis. If a simple method can achieve this, it also means many of us were working completely in the wrong direction. It takes some time to admit and accept this fact.

  • So for a month I watched some of your older videos, and also listened to the weekly Clubhouse sessions. Every time someone asked you a question, they were hoping you could tell them where there was a perfect entry point, or how to buy in batches. Yet you always told them to buy at market price and go all in the next day when the market opened. Ha. Most people would probably be stunned hearing that. Of course I was too. At first I thought I had misheard, and only later realized you really meant it.

  • Over that month I started going through your old YouTube videos and listening to your Clubhouse each week. Gradually, I found that what I heard each time was mostly the same.

  • One of your videos especially resonated with me. You said that in decades of investing, you had experienced more than 20 crashes and only successfully avoided 2 of them. I am very grateful that you were willing to share those experiences. I think that passage already revealed many unavoidable facts.

  • Here is my conclusion:

    1. There is no need to escape the top at all.
    1. If you are lucky and really do successfully escape the top, you may still not be able to buy back at a lower price.
    1. If you are lucky and successfully escape the top, you will think you have that ability, and then you may be finished.
    1. The above are absolute facts. So I spent some time digesting them and thinking them through before I dared to go all in at a high point.
  • James replied:

  • Thank you very much for sharing! I am truly moved by your mindset!

    • If investing causes you to lose all relationships and life itself, what meaning does investing still have?
  • Real investment profit does not require watching the market, and you can still be happy and wealthy! This is how I came through it, and I also hope more people will know and share the experience of becoming wealthy with ease.

[Investment Philosophy (6)] - Think independently when facing the market

[Investment Philosophy (6)] Think independently when facing the market. One of the keys to success for investors in the market is to think independently. Studying in class, reading books, and reading our investment columns are all part of learning. [Having] can be taught, learned, and researched, but [Having] is only part of investment success. Successful investors all have a "no" part, which is based on the "have" of correct investment knowledge and internalized into self-independent thinking.

The reply argues that U.S. index funds such as QQQ and SPY have stronger long-term returns and recovery ability than emerging markets and commodities.
