Market declines are temporary, the long-term market always rises, and it also has very high returns.
When the market is at its most panicked, you need to stay calm: 'Be greedy when others are fearful!' Therefore, when the market falls, you should courageously hold index funds. Index funds represent the entire U.S. market, the whole of America, long-term innovative America, a fair, just, and open America, and in the long run, they will only rise. This has been the case for the past hundred, two hundred years.
Market fluctuations are the fear and madness of short-term investors, and have nothing to do with us long-term investors. We should not dance with them, nor go crazy with them. We just watch the show.
The bubble drop in 2000 and 2008 also rebounded and even reached record highs. Now, there are no empty-shell companies like in the 2000 dot-com bubble, and there is no banking crisis like in the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis. It is very safe and reassuring.
Long-term investors are always extremely optimistic, the horse keeps running, the dance keeps dancing, ignoring the existence of the market. Do not look at the market, do not look at the account. Over time, the market will naturally rise back and continue to reach new highs.
