Chapter 59 [Investment Philosophy] - Think independently when facing the market!

One of the keys to success for investors in the market is independent thinking. All studying in class, reading books and our investment information, this kind of learning is part of the knowledge. There is knowledge that can be taught, learned, and researched, but knowledge is only part of investment success. Only knowledge that has been thought about by oneself is useful. Successful investors all have a part of "nothing" that has been internalized. It is based on correct investment knowledge and internalized into self-independent thinking and self-control.

[James Origin and Today] Chapter 59 - [Investment Philosophy] - Think independently when facing the market! (08/24/2023)

Successful investors all possess a part of "nothing" that has been internalized, which is based on correct investment knowledge and internalized into the ability to think independently and judge the market on their own.

Therefore, the key to making money or losing money is not the amount of investment knowledge. Moreover, the more investment knowledge you have, the more you will understand. The more information you absorb from the outside and the more news you listen to, usually investment will be very confusing. The key to success is to eliminate some external information and start to think independently. You have what you have and what others do not have.

Self-independent thinking and judgment are based on your own experience and thinking, and cannot be spoken out. When you speak it out, it is just a kind of knowledge. When this knowledge is passed to another person's ears, it is just a transfer of knowledge. For this knowledge to work, it must be listened to and thought through in the head to produce a "no" part, so what is said is the so-called "knowledge" part of "there". Only when you feel a sense of unique insight, can you be truly useful.

Our teachings and all books are helpful for those who are just starting to learn about investors, because learning must start with learning knowledge and have no concept of investment at all. When he accepts our investment philosophy, it will be easier for him to learn, accept, believe, and finally reach the point of belief, and the success rate will be relatively high. But the process is not easy either.

For those who have been in the market for a long time, if they have not suffered a major blow from the market or have not thought about what went wrong with their operating model and are just operating, it may be difficult to accept my investment philosophy, because there are already fixed and rigid models and misunderstandings about the investment market. As a speculator, it is a little difficult to break away from the past and fixed rigid models and accept something that you do not understand or agree with at all.

Our information can only be helpful to people with an open mind and independent thinking and judgment. For speculators who are still rushing in and out of the market for short-term operations, it will not be of much help. When a person cannot believe in Buffett's long-term investment philosophy, it is actually not easy to pull him out of the short-term operation mode.

Of course, many investors don’t want to spend too much time learning about investing (in fact, investing does not require time), which is also very good. In order to invest successfully, there is actually no need to learn. As long as you can insist on buying the index, holding it for a long time, never selling it, hearing, knowing, understanding, believing, executing, believing, enduring, and believing, you can still achieve the goal of success. Become the richest person in the world. But people are so smart and don’t believe that simplicity can make you rich. Listen everywhere, ask everywhere, and invest with your ears. Noise enters your ears, and no matter how hard your brain thinks, what comes out is still noise. With less ears and eyes and more heart, investing may be more likely to be successful.

If you can accept our investment philosophy and firmly believe in Buffett's long-term investment philosophy, you are actually very lucky, because many people in the market may be able to make short-term profits, but the investment method that can make stable long-term profits, looking at the past 80 years, there is only one stock god Buffett in the world, so long-term investors who can believe, firmly believe, implement, endure, and believe in this kind of long-term investors are happy, wealthy, and joyful.

[The most important thing about investing is: buy but don’t operate! 】

Date of writing: August 09, 2018 That’s right! The most difficult thing about investing is that when you first buy, the market is volatile and investors are nervous! Because investors are not used to market fluctuations, and because many analysts and news in the market are talking about how scary the market is! It scared everyone to buy and sell! Sell and buy again, buy at the high point and kill at the low point. The market will always be volatile, so investors must be able to accept shocks and ignore them. Just remember that the market is very good for investors in the long run.

I was once an engineer. At 43, investing allowed me to retire early. Over more than 30 years of investing, very few friends around me were able to keep making money from investing, let alone retire early.
