I Lost 3 Million on Housing, Was Trapped in Funds for 8 Years, and Locked Money in Insurance for 30 Years Before Seeing the Truth About Wealth
A new CLEC learner reviews housing losses, failed financial products, funds, insurance, leverage plans, family pressure, and James's reply.

I first encountered your course at the end of May 2026. I am truly a brand-new student among brand-new students. The first lesson I watched was the PDF of the one-billion lecture, and after that I could not stop learning through the videos.
Without exaggeration, right after I finished reading the one-billion lecture, I started buying the Nasdaq index on June 1. I have several questions I would like to ask you. In fact, I also want you to strengthen my confidence in investing again.
- My family's investment background
I am in mainland China, 42 years old, female. My husband and I both work within the system, and our household income is relatively stable.
When we accumulated a little money, we had a strong desire to manage our finances, but every attempt ended in a brutal failure.
First, we bought two houses: one for ourselves to live in and one for my husband's parents. Because our family members have different views, we cannot sell them. At present, the loss is about 3 million.
Second, because we did not know proper financial channels, we successively bought so-called "financial products" issued by HNA, Zhongzhi, and our state-owned group. All of them exploded. Dramatically, the bosses of all three companies I bought from also died unexpectedly or committed suicide at around the same time. In short, all of them were wiped out. This part lost about 500,000.
Third, we bought domestic consumer-sector funds. Because I heard that buying funds means holding them long term, I did not sell when I had a 40% profit. As a result, they kept falling for eight years and still have not recovered. After listening to your course, I sold at a loss last week. The principal loss was nearly 50%, about 200,000. If I calculate the hidden loss from not cutting losses earlier and investing in the Nasdaq index instead over those eight years, the loss is even larger.
Fourth, and yes, there is still more. I wanted to leave some money for my child, so I bought a Hong Kong savings-type insurance product. I have paid for five years and still have one year left. I checked, and if I surrender it now, I cannot get a cent back. I asked Doubao, and the actual annualized return of this product is only about 4%, and it takes 20 or 30 years to reach that level. This part locks up about USD 60,000 of liquidity.
After all of this, the family wealth we accumulated over many years has almost disappeared.
- My proposed investment plan
The past is the past. At present, our family's cash assets are only 600,000. In addition, I plan to borrow 800,000 through a credit loan at 3% annual interest. The monthly repayment is 2,000. I can use it for three to five years, and when the principal is due, I can repay it and then borrow it again.
This gives me a total of 1.4 million. Of that, 200,000 will be our one-year living emergency reserve, and the remaining 1.2 million will all be invested in the Nasdaq index.
Going all in at once still creates some psychological resistance, and loan approval also takes time. I have currently built a 400,000 position and plan to invest the rest in batches within one month. After investing it, I will firmly not sell. I hope I can do it, because if I had not listened to your course, I would not have planned to sell the liquor fund even after a 50% loss.
After that, monthly income will be used for living expenses. I put the reserved 200,000 cash in a bond fund as an emergency reserve. Every year after that, we should have 150,000 to 200,000 left over, and whenever we have money, we will keep buying. This investment rhythm can continue for less than 15 years. I did a simple calculation, and in 10 years it may be more than 6 million. I would already be very satisfied with that.

My questions
-
My borrowing already exceeds my principal. If my monthly income after living expenses can still cover the loan interest, is there risk? Or is there a better tool that can help me accumulate wealth better and faster?
-
In mainland China, there is no way to pledge assets. After my wealth accumulates to a certain level, I will also consider the credit-account securities lending method previously shared by Lao Chai on your channel. Do you think this method is feasible?
-
I put the reserved 200,000 in a bond fund with an annualized return of 3%. I have seen you recommend dividend products such as 561580, 513530, and 007751, but their returns over the past year are only 2%, 3%, or even negative. I do not quite understand this logic, and their volatility is high. They do not look as stable as my bond fund. What do you think?
-
At present, only I have confidence in this operation. All my family members oppose it, so I am doing it secretly. I want to wait until there are some gains before slowly persuading my family. But this puts a lot of pressure on me.
The most important point, teacher, is that you must look at this part. Given that my previous operations lost so much money and half a lifetime of savings is gone, I went to see a fortune teller. He said my fate has "wealth robbery" and that I am not suited to investing.
So on one hand, after listening to your course, I am full of confidence and feel that wealth is waving to me in the future. On the other hand, I am afraid I cannot overcome fate's arrangement. What if the first four or five years after I invest are all at low points? I still need to pay loan interest, still need to coax and deceive my family, and still need to keep buying during a down cycle. I have to bear all the pressure myself. The fact is that I have already been investing for nearly a month and am still in a loss position.
Although I deeply believe it will definitely rise back in the future, this process will make me very tired. If that happens, do I just have to endure it? I am truly conflicted about this point.
As I write this, I am almost in tears. I am very grateful that you have instilled in us the idea of not being "laborers." I also look forward to our family and descendants having abundant wealth for life and freely enjoying life.
Finally, I wish you good health and happiness every day.
James's reply:
Thank you for your letter and for sharing. You have stepped on most of the investment landmines in the world. Aside from ordinary scams, you have been deceived by all kinds of financial scams.
Regardless of whether the insurance still has any residual value, as long as you no longer have to keep paying into it, you have won. For any insurance money you can get back, surrender it directly and invest the proceeds.
Borrow whatever money you are able to borrow and invest it immediately. After all, having a larger amount of capital at the beginning and buying the right Nasdaq 100 index fund is more efficient than investing small amounts every month.
There is no need to look at your birth chart. As long as you know CLEC, you have won a 50-billion lottery ticket. That is the best fate for wealth, happiness, and joy.

[Introduction to Financial Management (4)] - The power of compound interest and the Rule of 72
What is the power of compound interest is what the ancients called compound interest. If the investment doubles every year, then the annual amount of 100,000 yuan after ten years is as follows: 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, 640, 1280, 2580, 5160, 10320 Have you noticed any changes in the numbers? The increase of 100,000 yuan in the first year does not seem to be much, but in the last year, it increased by 51.6 million in the last year alone. Of course, investing is only one year late,

[Investment Philosophy (10)] - Why is it so difficult to stick to long-term investments!
Our cognition of external things is entirely based on past experiences, and these experiences and images will continue to exist in our hearts. Whenever we see highly similar external things, although they are completely different from the past, we will indeed combine the external things that are completely different from the past with our inner cognition and regard them as the same. For example, a person who is extremely afraid of dogs will be afraid even if he sees the tamest dog in the world, because he regards the external dog as the same as the ferocious dog that once bit him inside.
