You Are Not Unworthy of Wealth, You Were Taught Not to Dare to Be Wealthy!
A reader investing steadily in the Nasdaq is blocked by a sense of not deserving it, afraid that heaven will take the good away. James replies that this mindset is common and comes from the old conditioning of Asian culture: being wealthy is a gift and being happy is a human right.

Teacher James, lately I keep getting stuck on a feeling that I do not deserve this.
My plan is really very simple: keep investing in the Nasdaq index on a regular schedule, let compounding accumulate slowly, expect a reasonable long-term return, and reach financial freedom in the future. But the more my reason tells me this path works, the emptier I feel inside. I keep thinking that someone with my working-class fate should not cross into the ranks of "capitalists" this easily, as if I were silently coming to own a large share of society's wealth. I am not sure whether this counts as my "fate," and I have even developed a hidden fear: that heaven will not stand for it and will send some upheaval to cut me off; and that "whatever you gain you must lose," so that some small thing later, a policy change or a family accident, will reduce the whole plan to zero.
I know this may be a "scarcity mindset" or fatalism at work, but I find it hard to dissolve this unease on my own. May I ask you: is this mindset common in investment psychology? Faced with this fear that good things will be taken back, how should I settle myself so that I can walk this path with a clear conscience?

Your mindset is very common!
The traditional pickling-vat culture of Asia is what produced this sense of not deserving. From childhood our parents taught us: "Work hard with your hands, do not indulge in wild fancies, gold does not fall from the sky by itself!"
I want to tell everyone: "Being wealthy is a gift! Being happy is a human right!"
We were born to be wealthy, and that is the correct, normal outlook! Spending a whole lifetime as a laborer is a mistaken idea and a shackle that society and family instilled in us; it has enslaved us!
I teach everyone to pursue wealth, happiness and well-being, and that is as it should be. Every one of us deserves it! This is simply everyone's basic human right. You have always had the right to a life of wealth, happiness and well-being.
