Click the link below and carefully study the article and videos in Asset Allocation Article Information Summary. Read them until you understand them. If you still do not understand, you may ask questions.
Please read carefully, understand the handouts and Excel files, clarify your personal situation, decide which scenario's asset allocation you plan to use, and identify the specific problem you have. Then provide the following personal information and questions:
Are you retired, or not yet retired?
How old are you now? When do you expect to retire?
Do you have securities-backed lending, or not?
If you already pledged assets, did you borrow a lump sum from it at the start?
How much in assets do you currently have?
If you are still working, do you need to withdraw money from investment assets for spending? How much do you need to withdraw each month?
If you are still working and do not need to withdraw from assets, how much can you still invest each month?
After retirement, how much money will you need to withdraw from assets each year?
Do you have any large expenses in the next three to five years, such as children's tuition or a home purchase plan?
Beyond these questions, describe your situation, or a hypothetical scenario, and tell me which scenario from video 00005 you plan to use for asset allocation. Then ask what problem you have with that planned allocation. A question framed this way is more specific, and I can answer more accurately.
The highest guiding principle for asset allocation is that under any extreme condition, including bonds or time deposits earning no interest, borrowing rates rising sky-high while stock prices fall to zero, or markets closing, the allocation should still provide:
Long-term stable cash flow.
