Students asked:
Teacher James,
Hello?
There will always be ups and downs in the stock market. Now that the index has reached a new high, I think a correction is inevitable. Ask the teacher, how should I lock in the existing profits? For long-term investment, should you set a stop loss now? For high-priced indices such as SPY and QQQ, how many percentage points should the stop loss be generally set?
My reply:
The market has reached a new high and there is no loss, so how can there be a stop loss! You are talking about stopping profits!
The market goes up and down, but no one knows when it will go up or when it will go down! So there is no way to operate it because I don’t know when!
But in the long run, no matter whether the market goes up or down, it will continue to rise in the end. As long as the future is higher than now, it can rise four or five times in ten years, so why do we need to operate?
The following is a chart of a long-term market rise. Selling at any time in the past was wrong, and buying at any time in the past was right!
Investing means buying the index, holding it for a lifetime, and you will make a lot of money!

Chapter 8 [The days of growing up with my daughter]
The days when I returned to the United States to be with my daughter. When I first returned to the United States, I started helping my daughter prepare breakfast every day. I really didn’t know what my daughter would eat for breakfast, so I first prepared porridge, sandwiches, omelets, and various other breakfasts, like a buffet breakfast, to see which one she liked. My daughter didn't express any opinions at first. Later, I found that she ate very little in the morning, so I gradually changed it to sandwiches or simple cereal. Several years later, my daughter told me that I had just returned to the United States.
