Chapter 56 [Investment Philosophy] - Overcoming fear, anti-market, anti-human operations
Investment must be in the opposite direction of the masses. When the general environment is favorable for the stock market to rise, a market fall is an opportunity and a good thing. The hardest thing about investing is overcoming the fear of falling markets. The mentality process of investors is as follows: When the market first rises and falls, investors don't feel it at all; when the market continues to fall, they think it is a long-term hold and don't worry! When the market continues to fall, think, ah! How can I sell it when it has fallen so much? I will lose money as soon as I sell it, so I decided not to sell it! 【Courage is great! 】 When the market decline intensifies, start to imagine the market

[James Origin and Today] Chapter 56 - [Investment Philosophy] - Overcoming fear, anti-market and anti-human operations (08/15/2023)
Investment must be in the opposite direction of the masses. When the general environment is favorable for the stock market to rise, a market fall is an opportunity and a good thing.
The hardest thing about investing is overcoming the fear of falling markets.
The investor’s mentality process is as follows:
When the market first rises and falls, investors don’t feel it at all;
When the market continues to fall, I want to hold it for the long term, so don’t worry!
When the market continues to fall, think, ah! How can I sell it when it has fallen so much? I will lose money as soon as I sell it, so I decided not to sell it! 【Courage is great! 】
When the market decline intensifies, you start to imagine that the market will fall to zero. You scare yourself, thinking that the market will fall miserably and your assets will return to zero. Everything in the past will be as if you died yesterday. You decide to sell out all your stocks and escape from the fire pit, thus ending the short-term pain.
You sell stocks at the lowest point when you shouldn't. When the market bottoms out after a sharp drop, what you thought was relief turns into long-term pain that slowly begins.
If the above investment mentality is repeated again and again, it will never change your destiny. You must make a courageous counter-market operation (insisting on not selling no matter how the market falls) to reverse your destiny (although doing so is the scariest behavior in the world, but it is indeed the safest investment method). As long as you survive a decline, your destiny will begin to be rich, and your investment will start to continue to make money at the right rhythm and in the right cycle. Making money becomes natural.
The above mentioned is based on the investment index (ETF), and individual stocks are not within the scope of discussion.
The volatility and uncertainty of individual stocks are high. To operate against the market, you need more courage, which is even more terrifying! And even if you have the courage, sometimes individual stocks will still make anti-market operators [fall unexpectedly]!
Change your ways! Abandon individual stocks! Invest in the index!

Chapter 8 [The days of growing up with my daughter]
The days when I returned to the United States to be with my daughter. When I first returned to the United States, I started helping my daughter prepare breakfast every day. I really didn’t know what my daughter would eat for breakfast, so I first prepared porridge, sandwiches, omelets, and various other breakfasts, like a buffet breakfast, to see which one she liked. My daughter didn't express any opinions at first. Later, I found that she ate very little in the morning, so I gradually changed it to sandwiches or simple cereal. Several years later, my daughter told me that I had just returned to the United States.
