The Market Only Rises Over the Long Run

Clubhouse casual talk on investing

CLEC (California Life Enrichment Club) Investment and Wealth Management Channel

August 29, 2026

X platform video number 00580

Buy Immediately at Market Price with Money You Can Invest, and Never Sell

Buy immediately at market price with money you can invest, and never sell. Buy and then go to sleep.

Which word do you not understand?

Stop asking whether buying this way is fine or whether you should buy in batches.

And never say you will wait for a decline before buying. You are not a god.

Waiting is the dumbest strategy.

Surrender and Redeem Any Insurance Policy Immediately and Invest It Yourself

  • Surrender and redeem any insurance policy immediately and invest the money yourself. Your assets will grow by four zeros over a lifetime. Take back one hundred thousand and it can become one billion over a lifetime. You can grow it into hundreds of millions or billions yourself, so why leave it to rot at an insurance company?

  • Stop asking about policy loans. Do not borrow against a policy. Doing so only makes the poor poorer.

  • No insurance, no insurance, no insurance. Stay away from insurance and stay away from friends who work as insurance agents.

  • If you have a policy, go to a nearby branch immediately and surrender it. There is no need to argue with your insurance agent.

Investing Does Not Require Knowing a Lot, So Do Not Ask the Following

  • Do not ask about individual stocks, and do not ask about other tickers I have not mentioned.

  • Do not ask when to buy. Do not ask when to sell.

  • Do not ask when the market will fall. Do not ask when it will rise.

  • Do not ask whether it will fall further. Do not ask how far it will fall.

  • Do not ask whether it will rise further. Do not ask how far it will rise.

  • Investing is not about knowing more and more. Buy whenever you have money and never sell. That is the key point.

Loan and Fund-Transfer Issues in Mainland China

Nvidia's Financial Results Are Outstanding

  • Nvidia's financial results are outstanding. In decades of market experience, I have never seen stocks this inexpensive, except at the March 2009 low.

  • Everyone must hold on tightly to QQQ. If you get off, you will certainly be thrown far behind and never catch up.

Retirement Standards

  • Retirement standards.

  • 50 times annual expenses: an 80/20 asset allocation with a 2% annual withdrawal rate.

  • 33 times annual expenses: a 70/30 asset allocation with a 3% annual withdrawal rate.

  • Minimum retirement assets: 17 times annual expenses. Invest 12 times annual expenses in QQQI to generate cash flow for living expenses, and place the remaining assets in an 80/20 allocation. After around ten years, total assets may grow to 33 times annual expenses. You can then sell QQQI, move all assets to a 70/30 allocation, and withdraw 3% for living expenses.

  • Note:

  • U.S. investors should consider the capital-gains tax consequences of selling QQQI.

  • China does not have good high-dividend products, so it may still be necessary to use an offshore Charles Schwab or IBKR account to invest in QQQI. Once assets reach 33 times annual expenses, transfer them to HSBC Hong Kong to invest in Hong Kong-listed Nasdaq products and consider securities-backed borrowing, thereby avoiding U.S. estate-tax exposure in an offshore account.

Off-Exchange Products in Mainland China Have Smaller Premiums

  • Off-exchange products in mainland China have smaller premiums, but you can only buy tens or hundreds of renminbi each day. If you open accounts with several brokerages and buy every day, you may be able to invest your full monthly amount.

  • But if you have tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands, it may take several months or two years to finish buying off-exchange. In that case, buy exchange-traded products and invest immediately. The market may rise 10% in a few months, making this more efficient than spreading purchases over three or four months, or even two years, through off-exchange products.

  • In conclusion, it depends on the size of your funds, and concentrating accounts makes them easier to manage. Everyone can consider what fits their own circumstances.

Greetings

  • Greetings. I am very fortunate to have encountered you last September. For nine months, I have listened to your lessons on my commute. My regret is that I assumed QQQ was "underperforming" at the end of last year and did not invest much, so I currently have only a 20% allocation.

  • Now, however, I invest all of my monthly salary beyond daily needs in 513100 and 159501. Fortunately, I am 30 years old, so meeting you was not too late. My husband and I both have relatively stable jobs and a son under two. Our family does not face much pressure, and half of our annual income is available for investment.

  • I firmly believe the Nasdaq will perform well over the next 30 years, but I still feel a little worried when I occasionally see a large daily loss. How can I overcome this mindset?

If You Worry About Losses, Do Not Invest

  • If you worry about losses, do not invest. Investing is not suitable for everyone.

  • If you worry about losses, your investment will ultimately fail.

  • Unless you truly understand long-term investing, ignore the market's existence.

  • If you worry that an airplane will crash, do not fly; otherwise, having a heart attack would not be worth it.

We Must Prepare for Our Retired Selves

  • We must prepare for our retired selves, and of course we must also live our present lives well.

  • Life after retirement is part of life, but our present life is even more important. Live every day well.

  • Sacrificing life now solely for life after retirement puts the cart before the horse.

While You Are Still Working, One Year of Emergency Living Expenses Is Enough

  • While you are still working, keeping one year of emergency living expenses is enough. Of course, everyone's work and life stability differ, so the necessary amount of cash also differs.

  • If your job is stable, you can keep less cash. If your work and income are unstable, keep more cash.

Live Life for Yourself

  • Live life for yourself. Even if you were the only person left in the world, you could still live a wonderful life.

  • Understanding video 00450 means your financial knowledge already surpasses that of most people, including many university professors.

  • Financial freedom is only the starting point of freedom in life; spiritual freedom is true freedom. You can watch our 00351, "Awakening: Rediscovering Yourself." This video is now available only on Bilibili; it has been removed in other regions.
