Disclaimer
Since July 2023, we have begun the process of canceling the company registration and nonprofit organization procedures for "CLEC Education Academy" and have changed all names to "CLEC Investment and Financial Management Channel," formerly "CLEC Investment and Financial Management Education Academy." We may still use CLEC. Please remember that unless it is James Chen himself, it has nothing to do with us; do not be deceived.
Our videos and related content are for educational purposes only and are not for profit. We do not operate any discussion groups or communities. If someone invites you to join one, please beware of scams.
For more than twenty years, we have been committed to volunteer teaching and have never profited from it. Do not trust any paid investment advice. Although ads may appear on YouTube videos, that is outside our control and we do not profit from them.
All information we provide is only a sharing of personal experience. It is not advice from a professional investment advisor (Certified Financial Advisor/Planner). Investment decisions should be based on your own research and should not rely solely on video content.
Investing is risky and may lead to significant losses. If you cannot tolerate a short-term loss of more than 10% or a decline of more than 20% over several years, we recommend that you do not invest. Pay attention to your own cash-flow safety and fully understand our investment philosophy before taking action. Invest prudently; all decisions are your own responsibility.

New friends, please watch the following videos on our channel first.
Investing blindly without learning is dangerous
-
Watch our videos and ask specific questions, including:
-
The video number and the timestamp where the question came up.
-
Asking questions after watching the video is the most effective way to learn.
CLEC has no discussion groups, and we have not authorized anyone to act on our behalf
- We cannot know the membership or purpose of any group, and such groups can easily be infiltrated by people with bad intentions.
The investments we mainly recommend are the Nasdaq 100 index fund QQQ and the corresponding local ETFs issued in each country
-
Do not rely entirely on financial consultants, including Charles Schwab financial consultants. They can help with account opening, but we do not recommend fully adopting the ETFs or other financial products they suggest.
-
Over the long term, the Nasdaq 100 index fund and the S&P 500 index fund have been among the best-performing investments. Outside of these, individual stocks, funds, and financial products usually do not help investment success and should be avoided.
We recommend investing 100% in a Nasdaq 100 index fund
-
United States: We recommend buying QQQ, or QQQM for smaller accounts. Cash can be placed in money market fund SWVXX or short-term Treasury bill ETFs BIL and SGOV.
-
Taiwan investors: We recommend Fubon NASDAQ 00662. Cash can be invested in CTBC U.S. Government 0-1 Year Bond ETF Fund (00864B.TW).
-
China investors: We recommend 513100/513300/160213/159941/161130/159660.
-
Hong Kong investors: You can choose HKD 3086, USD 9086, ETF 2834 (HKD), or 9834 (USD).
-
Canada investors: We recommend converting to U.S. dollars and buying QQQ directly, or investing in Canadian-dollar products QQC.TO/ETF (HXQ.TO).
-
Australia investors: We recommend buying NDQ.
-
United Kingdom investors: We recommend the U.S.-dollar-denominated iShares VII Public Limited Company - iShares NASDAQ 100 UCITS ETF (CNDX.L). In Europe, we recommend EQQQ and CSPX.L.
-
Brazil: The recently launched Nasdaq index fund is NASD11.
-
Japan investors: You can choose 2568/1545/2631.
-
Malaysia and Singapore investors: You can purchase U.S. QQQ through a Phillip Securities POEMS Cash Plus trading account.
-
South Korea: The recommended QQQ ETFs are 368590.KS/133690.KS/367380.KS.
Since 2018, we have kept all videos on YouTube so everyone can learn investing in chronological order
-
The videos reflect the market conditions and appropriate investment decisions at the time. As time changes, some strategies may no longer apply. They remain valuable learning resources.
-
Viewers should interpret each video in the context of the market conditions at that time, and develop their own thinking and judgment.
-
Our early investment recommendations included certain individual stocks and regular funds. Although they were good choices at the time, suitable investments must also account for personal risk tolerance and investment strategy.

Many friends think they are clever and invent their own asset allocation without any simulation
-
Someone in the comments imagined 60%00662; 40% cash. They wanted to use 40% cash and spend 4% every year. They thought their assets would rise after 10 years. They were completely ignorant of the market and didn't even know that the market would fall for ten years before hitting the bottom. I didn’t know that the two-thousand-year-old dot-com bubble hit its lowest point in 2009 exactly ten years later. As a result, this kind of asset allocation went bankrupt, and there were many weird internet celebrities teaching some weird asset allocation.
-
Asset allocation is a kind of systematic engineering, which is very personal and customized. Don't think that there is one asset allocation that is universally applicable, let alone use your own imagination. Asset allocation is not that simple.
-
Why do we want to do it by scratching our heads instead of using the well-standardized simulated asset allocation that we already have? The risk of not knowing is the risk.
-
You must learn to understand Excel and then modify it yourself. If you are not capable, just understand our asset allocation and choose the asset allocation that we have verified is suitable for you. Don't do anything rash, that is very dangerous and will lead to bankruptcy.
[The market high of 2000 was a gift to those who were prepared and the greatest blessing for young people. Only pessimists saw it as a disaster.]
-
An investment of one million in 2000 may surface 13 years later, but as of today, August 19, 2024, that one million has become 4.75 million.
-
If there were US$5 million in 2000, even if we bought at the high point, we would still be rich at US$23.75 million as of August 19, 2024.
-
Even if the US$5 million were used for retirement, scenario 4 is 80% QQQ and 20% cash. The cash cannot be pledged, and the portfolio is rebalanced mechanically every year. At 2% per year, or US$100,000, you could live on US$8,333 per month. Even then, US$6.95 million remains.
-
If you are a young person, the god of luck came during the 2000 bubble and continued to buy cheap QQQ. If a young man invested one million at the high point, 80% QQQ 20% cash, and rebalancing every year without thinking, and continued to invest $3,000 every month, he would now have 7.85 million.
-
Market declines are a gift to those who are prepared for retirement and a huge boon to the young.
-
A market drop is a disaster only for pessimists.
@tcchang77
-Thank you teacher! Every time I come back to play back the 100 million yuan lecture, I find that I have made another step forward. Now I am living happily every day. I am learning swimming with my daughter during the summer vacation and will go to Japan for a long stay next month. Thank you teacher for teaching me step by step, and I am grateful for meeting you🥹🥹. (I came back to learn how the teacher teaches, and the content I lecture is not much different from the teacher. Most people think I am either crazy or a scam!)
Really great! I am glad repeated listening to the 100 Million Yuan Lecture has given you a deeper understanding!

@beibei8578 It does not matter whether your monthly surplus salary buys unleveraged funds or leveraged funds; just be flexible
- At the end of each year or at the beginning of every other year, do a 30% smart rebalancing, and the beta value will continue to increase. When you feel that the beta is too high and you feel uncomfortable with asset fluctuations, you can rebalance significantly to lower the beta.
[Calculating Beta]
-
We regard the beta of QQQ(00662) as 1.0
-
QLD (00670L) is twice the leverage we consider beta 2.0
-
Cash (money market money market funds and 00864B) we treat beta as 0.0
-
So for the following asset allocation, our calculated beta is as follows:
Beta
-
Asset allocation 1.
-
70% 00662 (QQQ) beta 1.0
-
20% 00670L ( QLD) beta 2.0
-
10% 00864B ( money market ) Beta 0.0
-
Beta
-
= 70% x 1.0 + 20%x 2.0+10% x 0.0
-
= 0.7 + 0.4 + 0.0
-
= 1.1
Beta
-
Asset allocation 2.
-
80% 00662 (QQQ) beta 1.0
-
10% 00670L ( QLD) beta 2.0
-
10% 00864B ( money market ) Beta 0.0
-
Beta
-
= 80% x 1.0 + 10%x 2.0+10% x 0.0
-
= 0.8 + 0.2 + 0.0
-
= 1.0
